A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE

By: Karina C Quinn

According to Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary

The Definition of “Perspective” is as follows:

PERSPEC'TIVEnoun [Latin perspicio; per and specio, to see.]

1. A glass through which objects are viewed.

2. The art of drawing on a plane surface true resemblances or pictures of objects, as the objects appear to the eye from any distance and situation, real and imaginary; as the rules of perspective

3. A representation of objects in perspective

4. View; vista; as perspectives of pleasant shades.

5. A kind of painting, often seen in gardens and at the end of a gallery, designed expressly to deceive the sight by representing the continuation of an alley, a building, a landscape or the like.

Aerial perspective the art of giving due diminution to the strength of light, shade and colors of objects, according to their distances and the quantity of light falling on them, and to the medium through which they are seen.

As I went for my walk today with my Service Dog, Rosie, Jehovah showed to me a Different Perspective! It was wonderful and I would love for you to grab your coffee or tea and come along with me on this wonderful ‘garden journey’ of truth that He has shown me this day.

Have you ever been just stuck in a rut? Stuck in your daily grind and routine? Going on the same walk every day, same route, not changing it? Or sitting in the same spot and seeing the same things, people, and places day in and day out? Well, that’s kind of what I have been doing. While I love to get out every day with my dog, and might I add several times a day, I find myself going to the same vicinity and doing the same things.

So today I changed it completely up and ventured out of my comfort zone! It was wonderful and I learned a lot as I walked along peaceful and open minded. I noticed so many wonderful things about: myself, my dog and her responses, the birds singing, the cars driving by; and just the peace and serenity of the graveyard in which I chose to walk through. As I walked up the path toward the top of the hill, surrounded completely by peace and quiet, the sun shining upon me and the breeze gently caressing my face and skin, my soul and mind just quieted down and I was able to think. I found a little bench and sat for a minute with Rosie. As I looked down over the road and the apartment home where I live, my perspective was completely different! I began to notice things that I never had before! Beauty that I had never seen before. It looked completely different from where I was sitting. I noticed: houses; people coming and going peaceable; a jogger; cars passing; birds singing. All from a distance as I sat quietly on my bench with Rosie at my feet smelling the grass.

I couldn’t help but think of the family situation that I’m going through right now. It has been on my mind day and night. Tearing my soul in knots. Eating at my heart and even my stomach. “How do I deal with this Lord?” “Jehovah take this burden and lift it from me!” I have cried out. As I sat on that bench, he showed me “Change Your Perspective ~ look at it differently my daughter!”

When we change our perspective, it is like what Noah Webster says in his 1828 definition:

“Aerial perspective the art of giving due diminution to the strength of light, shade and colors of objects, according to their distances and the quantity of light falling on them, and to the medium through which they are seen.” or “A kind of painting, often seen in gardens and at the end of a gallery, designed expressly to deceive the sight by representing the continuation of an alley, a building, a landscape or the like.”

That is exactly what I was able to do. Since I changed my physical position, went up the path and gained an arial view of my physical surroundings, I then was able to use the art of seeing through the glass in which objects are viewed. Sitting there I saw my lovely beautiful vibrant garden at the end of the gallery, like a landscape unfolding anew. It was magnificent. Magnificent, because now I know what to do. I know exactly how to handle life’s challenges a little bit better. The solution to my family situation unfolded a bit more. An answer came into view. I know what to do to protect and take care of myself as the Lord would have me to do.

Sometimes we just need a ‘Different Perspective’ and in order to do this we actually need a physical change! So, my dear friends, don’t be afraid, but rather have courage to gather your things and take a good walk in the opposite direction! You never know what blessings are there!

Thanks for letting me share ...

Have a beautiful day!
